Dim the lights, start the soft piano intro, and slowly raise the curtain. Liqueur BPM is the latest release by L'Orchestre Parfum. Launched in June 2023, this fragrance has just recently graced us with its presence, and it's here to stay.
Liqueur BPM was created by Pierre-Constantin Guéros. Pierre attended ISIPCA, which is considered a highly reputable post-secondary institution in the world of fragrance and cosmetics.
Pierre has been credited for his work on 96 fragrances at the time this article was published. He has also created fragrances for other brands including Carolina Herrera, Fragrance Du Bois, and Trussardi. He has also created two other fragrances for L'Orchestre Parfum: Ambre Cello and Bouquet Encore.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Pierre. We asked him what his inspiration for Liqueur BPM was. His response was: "The concept behind this fragrance was to create a connection between the Parisian underground artists of the 19th century like Beaudelaire or Toulouse Lautrec and the contemporary ones like rappers or street artists through common scents like smoke, tobacco, and liquor; their creativity boosters."

Liqueur BPM by L'Orchestre Parfum
All of L'Orchestre Parfum's fragrances are made in France with natural alcohol from French beets and are 100% vegan.
Liqueur BPM comes in a simple box with the name of the fragrance, the house, and the size on the front. Cutting into the front side of the box is sheet music. Turning the box clockwise reveals more sheet music.
As a musician, I was quite delighted by the attention to detail, but I have no idea how to play any of it. The sheet music wraps around to the back where you will find a QR code to play a song. On the last side of the box we find a little write-up about the fragrance and a note breakdown.
Opening the box reveals the fragrance bottle. L'Orchestre Parfum isn't one to go kitschy with their bottles. You won't be finding any lightning bolts or busts in their boxes. A simple, elegant dark blue rectangular bottle with a wooden cap is all they need. The bottle itself is opaque, but I still wouldn't recommend putting it in direct light.
Upon initial spray, you're met with a mix of fruity sweetness and liquor, almost as though you popped the top off a bottle of nice cognac and took a whiff. That cognac pairs well with the light tobacco notes that sit underneath.
Once the initial sweetness begins to die down, suede leather takes center stage. The mix of cashmeran and leather give the fragrance a warm, light, velvety musk at this stage, rather than the earthy, smoky, animalistic scent you'd get smelling a leather jacket.
The light musk blends well with the tobacco notes that are now coming up in the scent profile.
This is where this fragrance shines. The amber and wood notes in the base of the fragrance add another layer of nuance to the overall character. The combination of liquor, tobacco, leather, and wood notes create a scent that makes me imagine having a cocktail inside a walk-in cigar humidor.
With only two sprays to my neck and upper chest, this fragrance projects at just over an arm's length and leaves an inviting trail behind. After two hours it becomes an elbow's-length scent, and within three, it's a skin scent. I could still smell it on myself the next morning.
It's definitely a fragrance you do not want to go overboard with. Two to three sprays will keep you going for well over 12 hours. Applying it to clothes may yield different results.
This fragrance should be worn on evenings where you are dressed your best, enjoying some wine and listening to a piano or smooth jazz quartet while getting lost in your lover's eyes from across a candle-lit table.
Liqueur BPM evokes a feeling of sophistication. The rich, vibrant profile is perfect for those intimate moments where you caress your lover in your arms during a slow dance under the moon. It should be discovered, not announced.
Better suited for cooler months, Liqueur BPM is a rich, warm, inviting fragrance that could be dressed up to black- or white-tie standards or dressed down to a semi-formal outing. It's a fragrance that should be reserved for life's special occasions and not used for daily wear, since it is quite expensive.
Liqueur BPM is best suited for an individual who has some experience with fragrances. The overall scent profile, while rather simple with its notes, may not be fully appreciated by someone who is just beginning their journey into the world of fragrances.
The boozy, woody scent profile may not appeal to younger people.
Although it is marketed as a unisex fragrance, Liqueur BPM does lean masculine with its tobacco and woodsy undertones. That being said, it could definitely be worn by a woman if she so chooses.
If you are looking for a fragrance unlike your typical box store designer brands and popular scents, Liqueur BPM is for you. A mix of sophisticated, classy, and elegant with a touch of masculinity to remind you that even under that suit, there's some chest hair.
Wear it when you want to make an impression. After all, scents can conjure strong emotions, which is one of the 9 reasons to wear a fragrance.
Don by Xerjoff - Smells like what you'd expect a mafia boss to smell like.
Fan Your Flames by Nishane - A coconut and rum based fragrance with vanilla and woods.
Speakeasy by Frapin - Fizzy mojito with smooth leather and sweet pipe tobacco with resinous honey.
