Both Yu, creator of AndoAndoAndo, and Rex, creator of The Esteemed Gentleman, share a common love for music. So when the idea to collaborate came up during conversation, the choice was obvious.
Although we have already written a review on the original Hi-Fidelity Timepiece For Music Lovers, we want to take this opportunity to showcase this new limited edition release:
Just like the original Vinyl Record Watch, this variant comes in the same sturdy brown pressed cardboard box with a presentation cut-out in the middle, showcasing the unique dial. The front of the box has the AndoAndoAndo branding along with the watches measurements.
On the back is a QR code that takes you to the AndoAndoAndo website. There, you will be greeted with a page that has more details about the watch including information on the movement and the 1-year manufacture warranty.
Inside the box you will find the watch, strap, and a variety of stickers. The watch itself is nested securely in the middle with a separate compartment for the strap and another for the stickers.
The case of the Vinyl Record Watch measures in at 41mm wide, 36mm long, and has a thickness of 10.2mm. The thickness includes the lip where the flat sapphire crystal sits. The sapphire crystal is treated with an anti-reflective coating, making the watch easy to read.
Speaking of sapphire crystals, the watch features an exhibition caseback with branding from both AndoAndoAndo and The Esteemed Gentleman. The watches movement is visible under the brandings.
When it comes to water resistance, the Vinyl Record Watch is rated for 5ATM (50m). This watch should be treated as a land dweller. A splash of water now and then is perfectly fine. We recommend taking it off if you plan on going swimming or relaxing in a Jacuzzi.
The watch comes with a black strap made of genuine leather. It features the AndoAndoAndo logo on the buckle and comes with quick release springbars, making it easy to swap out. The strap measures 22mm and slowly tapers down to 20mm at the adjustment holes.
The Vinyl Record Watch features a 24-jewel Miyota 9039 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The accuracy of this movement sits between -20 to +40 seconds a day. With a frequency of 28,800 vph (vibrations per hour), the vinyl record dial looks like it spins just like it would on a turntable.
If you have never seen the Vinyl Record Watch before you may be perplexed on how to read the time. Well, it's actually quite easy! The end of the tone arm represents the minutes and intersecting points of the modified V shaped Esteemed Gentleman logo inside the record label represents the hours.
To add to the illusion that this is indeed a vinyl record player, the small disc in the middle of the dial makes one full rotation every minute. If you put your ear right up to the watch, you may just hear a song! (Spoiler, there is no song, but wouldn't that be cool?)
Let's be completely honest, this is not a watch you would wear if you needed to know the exact time. This watch will be within a minute or so, but it won't be exact. This watch is best worn when you're enjoying a live show, kicking back with a record on, or browsing the latest releases at your favourite music store.
Whether you are on a date or in a crowd, this watch is going to turn heads and get compliments.
This special edition Esteemed Gentleman colourway is limited to just 50 pieces worldwide. Each watch is numbered xx/50 on the side of the case. Once they are gone, they are gone for good! So follow the link below to get yours now:
